Judith Bernardini, RN
Judith has been a clinical research nurse since 1982, and her primary focus has been on research to improve outcomes for peritoneal dialysis (PD) patients. She is currently a Consultant Peritoneal Dialysis, Adjunct Faculty, at the School of Medicine and School of Nursing at University of Pittsburg. She has numerous publications, has co-authored and taught the first PD University for Nurses for ISPD and developed an ISPD web-based video for nurses training PD patients. Her publications focus on catheter-related peritonitis, preparation of patients for dialysis, ways for reducing the risks of peritoneal dialysis-related infections, training and the corresponding impact on peritonitis, and general recommendations for peritoneal dialysis-related infections. She has been an invited speaker at numerous international conferences and received a Lifetime Achievement Award in the Field of PD. She has retired from the University of Pittsburg in 2006, but she remains as Adjunct Faculty, consulting on CQI projects around the world, and remains active in ISPD.
